SONO/NOLA 2014 will also feature a master class and private lessons from legendary New Orleans drummer/percussionist/bandleader Shannon Powell. Known as the “King of Treme,” Powell has worked with such world-renowned artists as: Harry Connick Jr., Diana Krall, Dr. John, The Blind Boys of Alabama, John Scofield and Danny Barker & His Original Jazz Hounds among others. In addition, acclaimed New Orleans drummer/educator Johnny Vidacovich (Astral Project/Bobby McFerrin) will offer private lessons.

All SONO camp packages include discounted admission to evening performances including: Anders Osborne with special guest Stanton Moore at Tipitinas’s on Friday, December 5th; The Stanton Moore Piano Trio, Saturday, December 6th at Café Istanbul and a Sunday, December 7th SONO/NOLA 2014 Finale Concert at The Old U.S. Mint with special guests TBA. Students will also be able to play and participate in a Second Line procession on the grounds of the Old U.S. Mint.

The exclusive “Spirit of New Orleans” Drum Camp will offer a limited number of students the chance to play with and learn from Stanton Moore in an ultra-intensive classroom setting. Each student will play on an individual practice drum kit allowing for an incredibly intense, educational experience that guarantees results.
