Yhtye esittää juurevaa, voimakkaan spiritualistista , melodista freejazzia jossa on vaikutteita myös klassisesta musiikista ja kansanmusiikeista. Bändin musiikki poikkeaa suuresti nykyjazzin valtavirrasta voimakkaammalla, freejazzin perinteestä ja primitiivisestä musiikista kumpuavalla, fyysisemmällä otteella. Yhtye jatkaa omalla tavallaan Edward Vesalan ja Juhani Aaltosen viitoittamaa suomalaisen freejazzin perinnettä. Yhtye soittaa pääosin omia sävellyksiä sekä mm. Edward Vesalan ja Oskari Merikannon sävellyksiä. JT Trion kaikki muusikot edustavat genrensä ehdotonta huippua Suomessa.
