The Texas Instruments Jazz Band, a full 18-piece big band, presents a Sizzlin' Summer Concert to celebrate the end of summer. The band, formed in 1986 by engineers at Texas Instruments, will present a variety of songs about heat, fever, burning and summer music. In addition, Brittany Hicks, who won the TI Voice Idol contest last June, will perform with the band. Kurt Elling, Peter Erskine, Randy Brecker, Delfeayo Marsalis, Blue Lou Marini,Tom "Bones" Malone, and Frank Mantooth. The band rehearses weekly at the Collin College in Plano and is directed by Kris Berg. Kris received his masters and bachelors degrees in jazz studies from the University of North Texas.
