The Imperial Presents: Fall Performance Series Featuring “sound Body Jazz Orchestra” at Knox Joseph Distillery At The Otr Stillhouse

After the smashing success of our inaugural summer series, The Imperial Theatre Mohawk Alliance is proud to extend The Imperial Presents into the fall with Sound Body Jazz Orchestra as our first autumn performer. As the Alliance fundraises to revitalize the build the Mohawk Performing Arts and Education Annex, The Imperial Presents is an opportunity for Cincinnati audiences to see the vision of “A Stage for All Reasons” in action and to play a part in its realization.

The Sound Body Jazz Orchestra, an 18-piece ensemble, has been playing great jazz-influenced popular music in and around Cincinnati for 32 Years. Sound Body Jazz Orchestra was formed in 1992 as a collaboration of alumni of Roger Bacon High School’s band. The band’s extensive book of tunes begins with the golden age of jazz and goes up to contemporary times. Following in the tradition of the famous jazz orchestras (or “Big Bands”) of the 1930’s and 40’s, Sound Body plays an eclectic mix of styles: from classic swing to hard-driving Latin, to lush ballads. Following in the tradition of the famous jazz orchestras (or “Big Bands”) of the 1930’s and 40’s, Sound Body plays an eclectic mix of styles: from classic swing to hard-driving Latin, to lush ballads. What makes this ensemble unique is the addition of contemporary jazz and fusion tunes to their repertoire.

Over the past 30 years, the band has played for a variety of community park concerts, dances, and private parties including the Blue Wisp Jazz Club, OTR StillHouse, Clifton Cutural Arts Center’s Summer Concert Series at the Burnet Woods Bandstand, Weidemann Brewery Beer Garten, and Bircus Brewery in Ludlow, KY. For seven years, the band was featured at the Cincinnati Arts Association’s popular “Dancing For The Stars” event at the Music Hall Ballroom – the same room that hosted many dances in the heyday of the touring big bands. In 2023, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra selected Sound Body to play a warm-up set at the Summermusik concert held at Roger Bacon High School's Fine Arts Center that featured world famous trumpeter, Arturo Sandoval.

Join us for The Imperial Presents: Fall Performance Series featuring “Sound Body Jazz Orchestra” on Wednesday, September 4th, at OTR StillHouse. Doors open at 7:00pm, concert starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance at imperialmohawk.org/events or at the door. Your attendance supports both local artists and the catalytic project to create the Imperial Theatre-Mohawk Performing Arts and Education Center.
