The Ron Brooks Trio at The Raven's Club

In 1962, Ron debuted with the Bob James Trio on their album “Bold Conceptions” which was produced by Quincy Jones. After a stint with James, Brooks went on to form The Mixed Bag and recorded an album for Tribe Records.

During the late 60s he toured Europe with Duke Ellington performing at Paris’ legendary Blue Note cafe, as well as other places in Germany and London. Throughout the 70s, Brooks shared the stage with such performers as Eddie Russ, Sarah Vaughn, Mel Torme, and Sonny Stitt. It was, however, in 1985 that Ron went back to his roots, settled in his hometown of Ann Arbor and opened The Bird of Paradise. ...

The Ron Brooks Trio has been a beloved part of the Ann Arbor Jazz lexicon for decades and currently boasts the lineup of Brooks on bass, the incomparable George Davidson on drums, and stellar pianist Tad Weed.
