Tom Bergeron Brasil Band at The Jazz Station

The band plays plays an eclectic mix of Brazilian genres, including choro, samba, bossa nova, MPB, frevo, and Brazilian jazz. It is led by saxophonist Tom Bergeron who last year retired from his position as Professor of Music at Western Oregon University and now spends his time on music projects from his home in Camp Sherman.

At the heart of the rhythm section is Brazilian pianist Cassio Vianna who just completed his first year as Director of Jazz Studies at Pacific Lutheran University near Seattle.

As always, the show will feature the singing of Rosi Bergeron who brings to Brasil Band the sensuous sound of Brazilian Portuguese and her distinctive expression of Brasilidade...

Also on the band is Groove meister Page Hundemer who, with his collection of fretted, fretless, electric and acoustic basses, is a fixture on the Corvallis music scene and an annual denizen of the Oregon Country Fair. Eugene-based world-jazz/funk-fusion drummer Cameron Siegal has visited Brazil, Africa, Portugal, and Cuba, feeding his appetite for the world of percussive traditions. He just completed his first year sharing some of his expertise with the lucky students of Fern Ridge Middle School.
