Baskisk baserede Gabacho Maroc giver fusionsmusikken en energiindsprøjtning af de helt sjældne med deres originale genrekombination. Nu rammer den talentfulde oktet København for første gang.

Kulturelle og musikalske grænser bliver nysgerrigt udforsket når Gabacho Maroc, med afrojazzen som solid grundingrediens, blander vestlige, afrikanske og arabiske genrer til en symbiotisk fusion krydret med elementer fra Gnawa-kulturen. Den baskisk baserede oktet blev startet af trommeslager og bandleder Vincent Thomas i 2013 og tæller medlemmer fra bl.a. Marokko, Algeriet og Frankrig.

Bandets komplekse instrumentering sammensat af bl.a. percussion, saxofon og traditionelle afrikanske og orientalske instrumenter mødes med bløde vokaler i en farverig, festlig og raffineret sammensmeltning af rytmer og harmonier, som det er svært at stå stille til. Gabacho Marocs festlige og energiske live-ryg har således spredt sig som en verdensomspændende steppebrand og bandet har i løbet af kun 5 år nedlagt scenerne på over 200 festivaler i Europa, Afrika, Sydamerika og Asien.

Gabacho Maroc er anerkendt vidt og bredt som et af tidens absolut mest interessante fusionsorkestre, hvilket bl.a. kommer til udtryk i et væld af positive anmeldelser og en nominering af debutalbummet “BISSARA” (Label Oued, 2014) som ‘Best African Jazz Band of the Year’ på AFRIMA i 2015. Ligeledes er deres seneste album med titlen “Tawassol” (“Forbindelse” på arabisk) (10h10, SONY 2018) blevet enstemmigt hyldet af den europæiske presse og udnævnt af den toneangivemde Transglobal World Music chart som Bedste verdensmusikalbum i marts 2018.

Forvent en intens genoplivning af fusionskonceptet og en dansefest af de sjældne når Gabacho Maroc kommer forbi ALICE i september.
