About

Gene Bertoncini can transform a nylon-string guitar into a little orchestra, combining jazz, classical and bossa nova standards into exquisite solo arrangements. Once called “The Segovia of Jazz Guitar” by the late jazz historian Gene Lees, Gene has accompanied Tony Bennett, Lena Horne and Nancy Wilson and collaborated with Buddy Rich, Wayne Shorter and Burt Bacharach among many others. In a solo setting, Gene engages his audience with sunny good humor and a confiding manner, as with a gathering of friends. The intimate house-concert atmosphere of The Drawing Room in downtown Brooklyn makes it an ideal place to hear him. Wine and light refreshments are available, and BYO is encouraged.
