His intoxicatingly-energetic gigs earned Hunter a cult status in the 1990s. His fans include Van Morrison, who instantly hired him to appear on his tour upon hearing him live. The men have since frequently featured on each other’s albums.
The evening kicks off with the domestic duo of Jo’ Buddy & Down Home King III and their music inspired by American roots music. With decades of experience under their belt, the rocking duo opens the 2016 Huvila season in style.

Brittiläisen James Hunterin musiikissa soi menneen maailman urbaani amerikkalainen soul ja rhythm ’n’ blues: Sam Cooken ja Ray Charlesin perintö. Ei olekaan yllättävää, että Hunter ja tämän killeri-bändi löysivät henkisen kotinsa legendaarisen newyorkilaisen soul-levy-yhtiö Daptonen suojista. Ylistetty uusi levy Hold On! ilmestyi alkuvuodesta.
Vaikka esikuvat kuuluvat, Hunterin oma ääni on välittömästi tunnistettava. Rosoista laulua kehystää hyväntuulinen ja huumorintajuinen svengi sekä tiukka ja hallittu kitarismi, joka purskahtaa välillä raisuiksi blues-sooloiksi. Hunterin biiseissä on aina pieni pilke silmäkulmassa.
Humalluttavan energiset keikat toivat Hunterille kulttimaineen 1990-luvulla. Faneihin lukeutuu muun muassa Van Morrison, joka pestasi miehen kiertueelleen välittömästi kuultuaan tätä livenä. Sittemmin miehet ovat vierailleet taajaan toistensa levyillä.
Illan aloittaa amerikkalaisesta juurimusiikista ammentava kotimainen Jo’ Buddy & Down Home King III. Vuosikymmenten kokemuksella rokkaava duo starttaa vuoden 2016 Huvila-kauden riemukkaalla ja räväkällä otteella.
Tanssiopetusta ennen keikkaa!Huvilassa järjestetään ennen konserttia lindy hop- ja boogie woogie -pikakurssi. Opetus alkaa klo 18 ja kestää 45 min. Opettajina Sasu Rissanen ja Essi Tikanoja.

Keikan jälkeen ravintolan puolella levyjä soittaa DJ Lord Fatty.
