Irish Women In Jazz Present: Jennifer McMahon (Podcast & Performance) at Arthur's Blues and Jazz

Join us on August 16th for our monthly Irish Women in Jazz Residency. This month, the live podcast will be hosted once more by Emily O'Rourke, followed by a performance from Jennifer McMahon (IWIJ founder) and band.

Jennifer McMahon is a vocalist, songwriter, producer and performer from Dublin. She is also the founder of Irish Women in Jazz, launching the website and social platforms in January 2022 and hosting almost 20 gigs in the past 2 years, featuring female-led groups. Tapestry vocal group was born from one of these performances.

Jennifer began her music education at age 7 and has continued to pursue music to masters level, graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2017 with a MMus in Performance and Production. She has studied under vocalists Jenna Harris (IE), Olga Roman (ES) as well as saxophonists Javier Vercher (ES) and Perico Sambeat (ES), to name a few. In January of this year, Jennifer was accepted to an artist residency in Ljubljana where she spent a month creating 'Witches, Bitches and Goddesses' with collaborator Jelena Soro, culminating in a near sold out performance at the city museum. She is currently an 'Incubator' artist with IMC, creating a music trail in the Phoenix Park , responding to the seasons in flow, over the course of a year. Her debut album Part of the Whole was a vehicle for grieving the loss of her Dad and the breakdown of a long term relationship; encountering loss while transmuting it into something new, and beautiful; an avenue for connection. The pandemic put a halt to any touring opportunities for the album and Jennifer is currently working on her next EP, recorded between Nashville's Sound Emporium Studios and The Barn studios in Rathcoole. Jennifer performs regularly with various outfits and will be joined by long term collaborators for this gig, playing music from her debut, her upcoming EP and other unreleased music....
