Their debut album Asian Fields Variations was recorded at the famous La Buissonne studio in September 2017 as artistic director of ECM record company Manfred Eicher.
Kari Ikonen
Kari Ikonen: piano and prepared piano
Kari Ikonen’s solo piano repertoire “Impressions, Improvisations & Compositions”, the music of the Kandinsky-inspired album consists of Ikonen’s compositions and improvisations, in which the piano’s vocal range has been taken to new dimensions with preparations and special technologies. Influences are heard e.g. Japanese koto music, and especially Arabic music, which Ikonen is particularly fond of. The Maqam scales of Arabic music with their micro intervals are accomplished on the piano with the help of the Maqiano device developed by the artist himself!
In the concert we will also hear Kari together with the trio!

Sclavis – Pifarély – Courtois on erinomainen ranskalaisten virtuoosien muodostama trio! Louis Sclavis on jo 1980-luvulta asti osoittanut olevansa tämän ajan jazzin luovimpia muusikkoja.
Heidän ensilevynsä Asian Fields Variations on äänitetty kuuluisassa La Buissonne -studiossa syyskuussa 2017 taiteellisena johtajana ECM-levy-yhtiön Manfred Eicher.
Kari Ikonen
Kari Ikonen: piano ja preparoitu piano
Kari Ikosen soolopianorepertuaari ”Impressions, Improvisations & Compositions”, Kandinsky-inspiroituneen levyn musiikki koostuu Ikosen sävellyksistä ja improvisaatioista, joissa pianon sointikirjo on viety uusiin ulottuvuuksiin preparointeineen ja erikoistekniikoineen. Vaikutteita kuullaan mm. japanilaisesta koto-musiikista, sekä varsinkin arabimusiikista, johon Ikonen on erityisen mieltynyt. Arabimusiikin maqam-asteikot mikrointervalleineen onnistuvat pianolla taiteilijan itse kehittämän Maqiano-laitteen avulla!
Konsertissa kuulemme Karia myös yhdessä trion kanssa!
