Notoriously playful pianist and composer Mathias Landæus (b. 1969) has released
seventeen albums as a leader. His lyrical touch and original style have earned him a
reputation as one of the most exciting jazz pianists in Sweden. Some of the artists he has
recently worked with include Seamus Blake, Oliver Lake, Mark Dresser, Tim Hagans,
Susana Santos Silva, Palle Danielsson, Fredrik Ljungkvist, Tony Kofi, Magnus Broo,
Mariam Wallentin, Sofia Jernberg, Lina Nyberg, Kresten Osgood, Jonas Kullhammar,
Goran Kajfes and Herb Robertson. Landæus earned his chops in New York in the early
1990’s where he studied with among others Jaki Byard and Richie Beirach. He has also
played a crucial role in community and network-building, by starting up dynamic live
scenes like the still influential Glenn Miller Café in Stockholm and the concert series
Underground in Lund.
World-touring bassist Johnny Åman (b. 1986) has been with the trio since 2011. He also
plays regularly with Jerry Bergonzi and George Garzone and has performed with
musicians like Gilad Hekselman, Billy Hart, Dave Liebman, Jason Marsalis, Tim
Hagans, Marcus Strickland, Tony Malaby, Phil Grenadier, John Ellis, and the list goes on…
Rising-star drummer Cornelia Nilsson (b. 1992) joined the trio in 2015. In a short time she
has made a big impression on the scene in Copenhagen where she currently lives. She
has performed with musicians like Aaron Parks, Jakob Bro, Maria Faust, Gabor Bolla,
George Garzone, and many others. She was the drummer of choice when Kenny Barron
Trio needed a substitute for a concert in Madrid in 2019.
