Mambo Kings at Hochstein At High Falls Concert Series at Granite Mills Park At High Falls

The 2014 Hochstein at High Falls summer concert series will once again fill the city’s High Falls District with the sounds of local music, every Thursday beginning June 5 (except for July 3). The kick off concert with Rochester’s favorite Latin jazz group, Mambo Kings, will include Puerto Rican style tapas and drinks for sale by Chelsey’s Restaurant, however the first 50 concert-goers will receive a ticket to redeem for free tapas.

For the sixth consecutive season, the High Falls Business Association has teamed up with the Hochstein School of Music & Dance and WXXI to present Hochstein at High Falls, a noontime summer concert series. Classical 91.5's Mona Seghatoleslami will introduce this year’s 10 outdoor concerts on Thursday afternoons, beginning at 12:10pm at the Granite Mills Park near the Pont de Rennes bridge. The featured musical talent will vary each week, including light classical, jazz, blues, Latin, folk, rock, and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own seating and lunch, or pick up a lunch at the many area restaurants, including La Luna and Fina’s Café. Each performance will run approximately 50 minutes.

The concerts are sponsored by a number of local organizations, including Ardent Learning Center, ASC Graphics, Entercom Communications, SEI Group, HUNT Engineers, Stantec, Mercury Print Productions, The Mills at High Falls, Norry Management Corporation, Roberts Communications, Partners + Napier, LMT Technology Solutions, Fina’s Catering and Café and Ward Greenberg law firm.

Their explosive blend of Afro-Cuban rhythms and jazz improvisation is contagious! The band includes pianist and musical director Richard DeLaney, percussionists Freddy Colon and Tony Padilla, bassist Hector Diaz, saxophonist John Viavattine.
*Barbecue Kick-Off with Chelsey’s Restaurant and Puerto Rican tapas, selling for $2.50 ea. but free to the first 50 audience members.
