Patrice LeBlanc, Artistic Director for Crossroads Theater announces the “Jazz at the Point” concert series at Crossroads, which is centered in the downtown Denver Five Points community next to the popular Coffee at the Point.

“Bringing back the tradition of blues and jazz at a designated location in the heart of the historic Five Points, revitalizing the community and providing music education to Denver students” are the stated goals of LeBlanc.

“Bringing back the tradition of blues and jazz at a designated location in the heart of the historic Five Points, revitalizing the community and providing music education to Denver students” are the stated goals of LeBlanc.

Local jazz artists will be featured at the concerts and will include schools and other organizations. The purpose of the concerts is to showcase local musicians in addition to raise funds for after- school music programs for children starting in Sept. 2014. Jazz at the Point is also seeking sponsorships from the social and business communities to make these efforts a future, sustainable reality. There are many benefits from being part of this project and LeBlanc looks forward to the opportunity to address that. There is a collaboration of sponsors within the music/arts community, including the City of Denver Arts and Venues, Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts, Five Points Business District and the “Bringing Back the Arts” Initiative, but financial sponsors are needed to launch the program. “It will require the love and dedication of Denver to make this happen,” says LeBlanc. “The exciting part of this venture is reaching the next generation of Denver musical talent and to be able to fund a full music education program while retaining and instilling pride in Denver’s long tradition of music talent,” states LeBlanc.

Le Blanc comes with a long, respected music background as jazz musician, pianist, arranger and composer, teacher, actress, musicals producer and theater director. She is well-known in the Denver music circles with weekly personal musical events. She chaired the Arvada Performing Arts and Cultural Festival for six years and has worked at numerous arts organizations including the Arvada Center and Red Rocks Community College.

There is a covered 50-space parking area that abuts the theater corridor, plenty of street parking and Light Rail “D” at 25th & Welton. The Blair-Caldwell Library, the active Five Points Business District and the resurgence of business in Five Points and its neighboring Curtis Park and Ri-No make it a premier spot for creating the best of history and the future.
