Phew! That was the end of 2017! a year of much ambivalence. On the good side: Mandagsklubben is growing and growing. We have had amazing concerts every monday year round. we have had amazing audiences! and we are booked until august 2018 of more amazing stuff. We also won a Danish Music Award. It really feels like Mandagsklubben is a place where we can meet and be ourselves and celebrate each others creativity. yeah!!! and its a place of unity which by its very existence is directly dismissing any attempts of polarization of our scene. On the bad side we lost some of the masters of the music, some of the artists directly responsible for the freedom we experience today. Many have passed on...have to mention Sunny Murray, Muhal Richard Abrams, Roswell Rudd, Micha Mengelberg, Charles Bobo Shaw and Phil Cohran. And at home we lost one of our greatest musicians, brother Nicolai Munch Hansen.
We are happy to announce that our January artist in residence is the incredible pianist, singer and composer Johanna Borchert! She has recently returned to the Copenhagen scene after 8 years in Berlin, her place of origin. Loved by audiences as a deeply original and complex performer in such (now legendary) bands as Little Red Suitcase and Schneeweiss & Rosenrot, she has since then added prizewinning singersongwriter to her list of merits. She has worked with Fred Frith, Shahzad Ismaily, Peter Bruun, Jonas Westergaard, Elena Setien and Chris Brown.
In 2014 She launched a career as an alternative pop singer, releasing "Fm Biography" and won the prestigious ECHO award for it and in 2017 "Love or Emptiness" came out, causing critics to compare her to Kate Bush. She has also made a beautiful solo keyboard album called "Orchestra Ideal" She has decided to use her Mandagsklubben residency to make new musical acquaintances and celebrate old relationships. We are very proud to welcome this unique artist back to Denmark and into Mandagsklubben!!!!

Rebekka Salomea - vocals
Yannis Anft - keys
Oliver Lutz - bass
Leif Berger - drums
SALOMEA is the Cologne based multi-genre band of German-American singer, composer and lyricist Rebekka Salomea.
The sound is influenced by mainstream music, combined with the freedom of improvisation and finally wrapped in quite complex compositional structures.
The four musicians create songs with eccentric beats, synthesizers, live FX and a voice with the urge to experiment with and express her words and sounds.
kl 24 LโERNEST
Camille Emaille = percussions
Timothรฉe Quost = extended trumpet
Donโt have expectations. Take it as it comes and mostly, let it go. The french duo, Timothรฉe Quost (Trumpet, no-input) and Camille รmaille (percussions), deliver a fresh and powerfull music that comes out from their deep diging into the sound. They donโt allow fences. Pushing themselves to any border to try to go further and deeper is what bring them and the audiance to an extrem state of listening. Come over to leave a ear...
