On Friday August 28th in UVA’s Brooks Hall, The Charlottesville Jazz Society welcomes back pianist and educator Monika Herzig, with her new all-female instrumental project “The Whole World In Her Hands.”
Monika Herzig, a vibrant and tireless advocate for jazz and jazz education, has performed frequently in Charlottesville. She holds a Doctorate in Music Education and Jazz Studies at Indiana University, where she has been a faculty member for many years. Her forthcoming book is titled “A Listeners Companion to Chick Corea.”
The Whole World in Her Hands is a musical collaboration under Herzig’s leadership, and features outstanding female jazz artists from around the globe. Also performering on this tour is veteran flutist, Jamie Baum, a bandleader and recording artist in her own right. Additionally, two Israeli-American musicians will be on board—trombonist Reut Regev and bassist Adi Myerson. Nashville-based drummer Arianna Fanning rounds out this all-star lineup....
