During his London years, he composed music for the BBC, Universal, and EMI, and was active on the English jazz scene with bands such as Henrik Jensen Followed by Thirteen, James Allsopp, Rory Simmons (Jamie Cullum) and singer such as Cecilia Stalin and Kristina Train (singer on Herbie Hancock's Imagine project). In 2017, Esben Tjalve took to the studio with his band Red Kite with musicians from different European countries. the CD was released right before the 2017 jazz festival and received the following praises: “Tjalve’s writing is intelligent and consistently interesting with rich colours and textures but there’s an engaging spikiness about the music too that seems to draw its inspiration from contemporary American jazz developments.” (The Jazz Mann).
