Not without reason did her debut album (Dec 2022) and subsequent tour receive sheer acclaim, as singer Meral Polat moves and captivates. Challenged by two virtuoso playing companions, she undertakes a meandering journey through Anatolian folk, Kurdish sounds and African-American blues. ‘Kurdish Soul’ is how she names their soul-cutting music. Joined by Meral’s poetic lyrics and poems from her father’s estate, Ez Kî Me tells universal stories from the diaspora. Stories full of imagination and hope, which gain additional meaning today.
