History

Shore Fire Media was formed in 1990 by Marilyn Laverty, who had previously been the National VP of Publicity at Columbia Records. Based in Brooklyn Heights, Shore Fire's initial clients included Bruce Springsteen and Wynton Marsalis; as its reputation and staff grew, other noteworthy musical clients were added to the roster: U2, PJ Harvey, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews Band, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Lilith Fair Festival, among others. In 1997 Shore Fire added television programs to its roster. In 1998 website and comedy were added to Shore Fire's achievements. In 2000, the company's growth was reflected by the addition of several significant book clients. In 2001 we entered the hotel and restaurant arena, and began to represent the Fordham University-based NPR radio station WFUV. Shore Fire is also widely known for its long term work with such career artists as Maxwell, Cassandra Wilson, Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Harry Connick Jr., Joshua Redman, Dr. John and Jackson Browne, as well as for its culture-defining representation of Smithsonian Folkways Recordings for 7 years.

Dedicated to excellence in all genres, Shore Fire represents top pop artists with platinum sales as well as highly successful artists in many genres. Our current roster includes pop; rock; jazz; r & b; world music; new age; several reissue catalogs; folk; and classical.

Websites

Both consumer and business-to-business sites have achieved high visibility through Shore Fire's services. Our client Liquid Audio was cited as one of the Top 10 “breakout” businesses for the year by Entertainment Weekly, and CDnow's press campaign included placements on ABC News Nightline as well as key print outlets such as Newsweek and Entertainment Weekly. Our photography website, Takegreatpictures.com, has increased its traffic through key TV placement for the world-renowned shooters whose work is on the site.

Special Events

Shore Fire's work sells tickets and gains visibility for its clients. The 2001 Toyota Comedy festival included two sold-out Carnegie Hall shows, and achieved media valuations at around 6 million dollars. Absolut Vodka's “Absolut Latino” series kicked off the company's Latino initiative with New York and Miami events that included VIP attendance and great press coverage.
