The Boston-based duo Shepley Metcalf and Ron Roy, a "superb cabaret/jazz artist and her ace piano accompanist" (Boston Globe) bring The Songs of Laura Nyro to the Windy City. Nyro, inducted last year into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, wrote the hits "And When I Die," "Stoned Soul Picnic," "Eli's Coming," "Stoney End" along with many lesser-known gems in the '60s/'70s. In this show, Metcalf and Roy put their spin on these tunes and Nyro's ballads "Billy's Blues," "I Never Meant to Hurt You," and "He's a Runner." Show bookings include Wellfleet Preservation Hall, Scullers Jazz Club, and the Metropolitan Room in New York City, and a companion album is releasing this spring (2013)...
