Bacharach had come up with an unorthodox style all his own that could be embraced literally by everyone from teenagers to oldsters and Dionne Warwick became the golden muse for one of the most prolific and all-embracing songwriting teams who shaped the music of their time. Songs like "Walk On By", "I Say A Little Prayer", "Close To You", "Heartbreaker", "That’s What Friends Are For", "Message To Michael", "This Girl’s In Love With You", "Do You Know The Way To San Jose", "I Will Never Fall In Love Again", "Alfie", "The Look Of Love" and "Any One Who Had A Heart" have become iconic songs, largely because of Dionne Warwick.
Don't hesitate to join our celebration of Dionne Warwick, Burt Bacharach and Hal David and journey with us through our favorites songs of theirs, in special renditions performed by four of our top artists here at the Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective, including the incredible American vocalist Leandra McNair who is based in New York but who many Copenhageners have previously had the opportunity to experience at the now defunct The Standard Jazz Club in Havnegade. She will be joined by American drummer Victor Jones, renowned for his long-standing collaboration with Stan Getz, Brazilian bassist Romulo Durate who is also well-known by Copenhagen audiences from concerts with Camilla Sledge and Daniel Rolim, and last but not least, Swedish pianist Calle Brickman, who has also been closely associated with The Standard Jazz Club.
If you'd like to add pre-concert dinner to your evening, the National Museum's newly opened new restaurant "Smör" offers a pre-set 3 course dinner at 6 PM which can be purchased here as an add on (price DKK 395 per person excluding drinks).
