Our distinguished artist in residence is the great Thomas Hass
Thomas Hass is a Danish composer, producer and award winning saxophonist. He got a
foothold on the danish music scene as a member and co-initiator of the jazz quintet โPage Oneโ, who in 1987
won the โInternational Jazz Federationโ contest for young European jazz groups in Leverkusen, Germany.
He has released 5 jazz albums as a leader and several as member of iconic danish groups such as the jazz
quintet โPage Oneโ and the fusion jazz group โThe Endโ.
He is based in Copenhagen where he besides his film and TV work is a part of the regions flourishing jazz
community. He has through all the years worked with many different kinds of music, including commissioned
works for the Danish National Radio Big Band (25 year anniversary), feature films and TV commercials,
ballet and theater. Together with Thomas Agergaard for the Danish National Radio he composed music for
the late danish poet Poul Borums voice recordings feat among others Jens Winther on trumpet.
In 1996 he scored his first feature film โHannibal & Jerryโ by danish Wikke & Rasmussen and director
Charlotte Sielingโs debut short story โTut & Toneโ.
Since 2009 he has released three albums and in 2013 he created the well known sound design for the
Danish national radio (DR) channel 1 (P1) in collaboration with Thomas Blachman and did as well get his
first international scoring assignment for the French/American TV show โJOโ feat. Jean Reno. Since 2015 he
has been composer for the Los Angeles based TV show โGood Behaviorโ.
Right now he is working on new material for a Quartet recording (Lars Jansson, Blachman, Ginman) in

Ikbal Lubys - Guitar
Andrius Dereviancenko - Saxophone
Asger Thomsen - Bass
Szymon Pimpon - Drums
Highly exiting visit from indonesia. Ikbal Lubys is playing a homemade guitar and is one of the exiting new players coming out of Indonesia..here he is joined by a truly international band with the great Lithuanian saxophonist Andrius Dereviancenko (who has been living in copenhagen and then suddenly jumped on a boat...now, thankfully, he is back in town), Asger Thomsen is one of Denmarks greatest young improvising bassists and the Polish super drummer/composer Szymon Pimpon fills out the percussion chair..very very exiting quartet!
kl 20 Mรฅlbrot
Andreas Rรธysum - clarinet
Joel Ring - cello
Mรฅlbrott is a duo consisting of clarinetist Andreas Rรธysum and cellist Joel Ring. Informed by an appreciation of sound and human expression in general, they work with timbre and physicality. Mandagsklubben attendees might have caught Rรธysum with the legendary Mads Egetoft Scandinavian Connection, with Rรธysum Bodega, Miman or in duo with Kresten Osgood, and Ring has previously played the club with his duo Wendra Hill.
kl 21 Thomas Hass residency concert # 1
Thomas Hass - sax
Katrine Windfeldt - piano
Niels Wilhelm Knudsen - bass
Michael Dalgas - drums
Thomas Hass says: "These excellent musicians are also part of Niels Wilhelm Knudsens Quartet and the reason why I chose to play with them Monday the 5th is that Niels's open compositions create something close to optimal conditions for open and explorative playing and in its best version the orchestra has proved to be completely flying"
kl 22 Rรธysum / Kalman / Osgood / Dharma
Andreas Rรธysum - clarinet
Egil Kalman - bass
Kresten Osgood - drums
Dharma - electric guitar, efx and objects
Rรธysum and Kalman belong to the new generation of improvisors coming out of Norway..strong and original improvisers who have been at the club several times before, unless you have been living in a cave or been a member of some weird sekt, Osgood is known to most of you by now. On this set they are joined by Dharma -a very interesting improvisor from Singapore! once in a lifetime meeting between Norway., Denmark and Singapore
kl 23 The Prophets
Frederik Fog - guitar og profeti
Erik Malmqvist - klaver og profeti
Kristian Saarup - trommer og profeti
Prophets is playing free form prophety this evening. Let everything be heard. (yes there is another band called the prophets...and if you knew that...thats great!)
kl 24 Choboter / Kadereit / Rรฅnes
Matt Choboter, Piano
Jan Delรฉle Kadereit, Tabla & percussion
John Arne Rรฅnes, Guitar
These three young musicians living in town all have played here before, but never in this setting:
Originally from Vancouver, Matt has more recently spent time studying and collaborating in Montreal, New York and South India. His musical vision is heavily inspired by Carnatic rhythmic principles of space and time.
Jan is a drummer and percussionist that right after high school lived for 2 years in India, and since then travelled multiple times through Nepal, Russia, Korea, Indonesia and Japan researching the origins of ritualistic music.
John Arne is a guitarist from Norway, that together with Jonatan Uranes founded Ymse Impro and always manages to bring new and surprising elements into every setting he plays in.
This will be a exploration of two Tamil ritualistic rhythm cycles.
