On the first Thursday of each month, in conjunction with “Hillcrest Shop 'n' Sip” (when most businesses in the historic neighborhood stay open late and/or present special events), this family-owned, family-operated, family-friendly Brazilian restaurant (with full bar) presents free, live jazz (6-8 pm, approximately) by accomplished musicians (usually vocalist Ryk St. Vincent and pianist Chris Parker). Opened in March 2002 by Don and Rosalia Monroe, Café Bossa Nova (adjacent to Rosalia's Family Bakery, added in 2010) has been serving dinner (as well as lunch and Sunday brunch) since January 2005; a third dining room was added in May 2017
