UAM: Fine Arts Center

Though the foundation had already been laid with three jazz bands and two seven-piece combos, it was not until 2007 that the University of Arkansas at Monticello's jazz studies program - the first of its kind in Arkansas - was created by distinguished saxophonist Gary Meggs. A decade later Jazz Studies (profiled at uamont.edu/music) was expanded to include both undergraduate and graduate levels. Several times each year UAM's jazz ensembles perform on campus in concerts which are open to the public.
