Jazz at All Saints’ Concert


On Friday, February 13, the young South African trumpet sensation Darren English brings his distinctive sound to the third concert in the 2025-26 Jazz at All Saints’ Concert Series.

Darren has forged a global reputation for his skills as a performer, arranger, and composer. In 2016 both JAZZIZ Magazine and The Huffington Post named him on their “best of the year” lists, and his influential debut album, Imagine Nation, earned rave reviews on every continent. A work of extraordinary imagination and artistry, it features, among others, vocalist Carmen Bradford, pianist Kenny Banks, Jr., and the recorded voice of Freedom Fighter Nelson Mandela.

A graduate of Georgia State University, Darren has performed at the Atlanta Jazz Festival and has collaborated with such artists as Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Kebbi Williams, Dave Matthews, Lil John Roberts, PJ Morton, Stefon Harris, and Marcus Gilmore. He recently completed a three-month tour of Europe, India, and the U.S. that showcased many of his original works.

English’s artistry and dedication to humanitarian causes have garnered two Global Peace Song Awards, the 2023 Standard Bank Young Artist of the Year Award for Jazz, and one of Georgia State’s 40-Under-40 Most Influential and Innovative Awards. He also was honored to play at the funeral of another of his country’s heroes, Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

The February 13th Jazz at All Saints’ Concert takes place in the sanctuary of All Saints’ Episcopal Church beginning at 7:00 p.m. It will be followed by a Q&A with Jazz at All Saints’ Artistic Director Virginia Schenck and a reception in the Parish House.
