She started playing the piano at the age of eight, and at 13 Claudia Döffinger played in her first jazz band. Consequently, she always moved to wherever there was to learn, to study, to perform: to Lucerne to study jazz piano, to the Art University of Graz for a master's degree in jazz composition and arrangement with Ed Partyka, to Cologne, where she currently lives and works. She is rooted in the tradition of big band jazz, knows the vocabulary of the big formation, and is not afraid for a second to strike unconventional notes and give the audience catchy, often funny moments.
