Chris Bennett began her career in Germany, as lead singer of Munich Machine, arguably producer Giorgio Moroder's most successful disco group. She wrote music for Tina Turner, The Manhattan Transfer and Randy Hall, and produced Keb Mo's first CD "Rainmaker". She has been a regular guest at the A-Trane with her band for more than 25 years and recorded her CD "Live in Berlin" there in 1999. Four years later, in October 2003, the second CD "Once Upon A Time" Live at the A-Trane followed, recorded during a guest performance at the A-Trane.
This time, too, she didn't shy away from the long journey from Los Angeles to Berlin, this time bringing along saxophonist Rick Ross from LA....

What would be praise enough for any jazz vocalist, means yet another for Chris Bennett: recognition of her independence as a performer and entertainer. The big gestures are not her thing - you have to listen carefully to this singer; she doesn't force herself on you. However, the fact that Chris Bennett regards the stage as her ancestral space is also reflected in her discography: two of her six jazz albums are pure concert recordings - a clear sign that the artist is confident of her live qualities. And also of her audience: "Please welcome ... Chris Bennett!"
