The „Music´n´Migration Festival: A European Jazz Odyssey“ celebrates its premiere at Kesselhaus/ Kulturbrauerei in Berlin. From October 10th to 14th 2012 the Music´n´Migration Festival presents the diversity of Europe´s music scene showing how the wide range of musical traditions and the history of migration is reflected in jazz.

Besides renowned artists like the wonderful Greek vocalist Savina Yannatou, the festival will see rising stars already making waves on the modern jazz scene, including Ibrahim Maalouf, Raynald Colom, Simin Tander, the Oleś-brothers and Elina Duni Quartet. Without doubt one of the highlights of the festival will be the German Premiere of the Trio Khalifé/ Schumacher/ Tristano, where the two ECHO Prize winners Pascal Schumacher and Francesco Tristano from Luxemburg meet the Lebanese percussionist Bachar Khalifé....

From October 10th to 14th 2012 the Music´n´Migration Festival presents the diversity of Europe´s music scene showing how the wide range of musical traditions and the history of migration is reflected in jazz.

All the musicians featuring at the festival have something in common: their open-mindedness and interest to cross borders in various senses. There might often be existential, serious reasons to emigrate, but musicians are often wanderers between diverse worlds through curiosity. The clash of cultures and musical genres leads them to new horizons. Those new experiences and encounters are reflected in their music. Jazz seems for them all more than just a musical genre – more as a universal language.

In addition to the concerts we will be showing the impressive documentary „Sing! Inge! Sing!“ about one of the best German jazz vocalists of the sixties, Inge Brandenburg, on Saturday 13th October. Afterwards we will be inviting the audience, musicians and music industry professionals to the Jazzsalon to meet and talk.
