Much like Count Basie, David Basse has deep roots in Kansas City. His soulful vocals have drawn praise far and wide, and the great Maya Angelou exclaimed, “I love the soul that is your voice.”

Both artists recorded extensively with the late Phil Woods, and for certain “Bass & Basse do Basie – and Beyond!” performances we are honored to include Phil’s long time rhythm section: Bill Goodwin (drums) and Steve Gilmore (bass).
