What started as just a project is now one of Christine Jensen's most important ensembles. The Montreal-based saxophonist, composer and bandleader says about her 19-piece jazz orchestra, "The band has taken on a life of its own. I now compose with the large ensemble in mind". And she does so with great success in balancing small group improvisations and large ensemble sound in her own language of contemporary harmonies and melodies.
