Dominic Howles Quintet at Hen And Chicken

This is a new project for Dominic following on from his septet album “Bristolian Thoroughfare”. These guys are top drawer and have already been into the studio to record a forthcoming album of new music, some of which will be heard tonight.

The band is fronted by two well-known UK musicians in Dave O’Higgins (Roadside Picnic, Martin Taylor’s ‘Spirit of Django’, Jamie Cullum, Kyle Eastwood & the Matthew Herbert Big band) and Steve Waterman (John Surman, Carla Bley Big band, Don Weller)

Undaunted by such an onslaught, he soon got into playing bass guitar in local bands before going on to work with Stacey Kent, Bobby Wellins, Tim Richards, Tim Whitehead and many others.

Using long time accomplices Nick Tomalin and Matt Fishwick to complete a finely tuned rhythm section, this quintet is bound to swing hard and be a melodically great evening of modern jazz in a post-bop/ hard bop style
