Listed between Chet Baker and Count Basie in the BBC publication 100 Jazz Greats, Iain Ballamy is an internationally recognised saxophonist and composer, urbane, original and freethinking, and with a captivating and instantly recognisable tenor sound. His remarkable new quartet features world-class pianist Huw Warren, the extraordinary flamboyant virtuoso bassist/trumpeter Percy Pursglove and the exuberant Mark Whitlam on drums. For this Jazz Encounter they play new original works and also some unexpected re-workings ahead of recording a solo album for ECM records.
