Brought together initially by the music of Shelly Manne, one of the greatest drummers in the history of jazz, the leaders of this quintet pay tribute to the musicians they admire the most. Ably supported by accomplished musicians, they perform with consummate skill. The influence of Manne, at ease with any style, is a natural starting point for the quintet, who pay tribute to him by joyfully interpreting classical, catchy jazz standards tinged with their own personal vision. Their set is completed with standards by Wynton Marsalis, Terrence Blanchard, Larry Young and John Williams, creating a repertoire that reflects the varied trends of jazz from past and present.
