Sinister Sister performs Zappa at Marni Jazz Festival at Théâtre Marni

Sinister Sister focus in on the instrumental pieces of one of the major and momentous artists of the 20th century – Frank Zappa. In addition to being a standout “classical” composer and rock musician, he was also extremely highly reputed as a producer, satirist, and for his improvisation on the guitar.

Whilst Zappa’s music has a timelessness to it, Sinister Sister provide their own take on it, their groove and sound (festive of course, just look at who is on bass and drums) and contemporary improvisation, as the musicians seek to tell their own story through Zappa. The leader and vibraphonist Pieter Claus is in charge of arrangements and creates “mosaics” of various songs and themes.
Their aim is not to go back to the time of Zappa, but to bring Zappa into the present ... or even the future !
