WITH A KICK-OFF AT 20.00
ON FRIDAY, 30th JANUARY 2026
PROUDLY PRESENTS THE
Sándor Molnár Quartet
The brilliant young Hungarian tenorman, SÁNDOR MOLNÁR produces a beautiful, muscular, dark tone on his horn, plays jazz that sounds like jazz, he is a soulful hard bop player, so true lovers of the genre will absolutely love him. He has already played twice at London’s legendary 606 Club where he was cheered to the rafters. He is a contemporary of that other virtuosic Hungarian tenor-player, Gabor Bolla, and like Gabor, a musical descendant of Cannonball Adderley, Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane. He is also one of the frontmen of the immensely popular hard-bop band, The Coltrane Legacy. He will be accompanied by RÓBERT LAKATOS an exceptionally gifted pianist, at home in both jazz and classical music. He walked away with the first prize from the solo piano competition at the 2000 Montreux Jazz Festival. In 2005 he was voted best soloist at the Avignon International Jazz Festival. Since then he has established a serious reputation for himself in the world of jazz. Jack DeJohnette, one of the jazz giants he has played with, had this to say: „I believe Robert is one of the best young pianists on the jazz scene today”. The much-in-demand bassist in the country, the dynamically brilliant GYÖRGY ORBÁN will sparkle in the rhythm section. Like Róbert Lakatos, he was also member of the Bolla quartet when it won the jury and audience prize in Avignon. He now leads the immensely successful band, the Coltrane Legacy. While the beat is driven by that great drummer, ANDRÁS PECEK LAKATOS....
