The Nagy Emma Quintet represents a new generation of modern, contemporary jazz. Their sound is fundamentally experimental, with compositions ranging from hard drum grooves, free improvisations, contemporary compositions in song form and other unique arrangements. Their music is characterised by contrasts and dissonance, improvisation and diversity, joy and spleen, a sense of contemporary life and a grotesque, raw sound with a dreamy charm.

Although the five members are very different in many ways, it was clear from the start that they could work successfully as a unit, both musically and as a people. The orchestra has received the Artisjus Award of the Hungarian Songwriters' Association and Emma Nagy has been awarded the Junior Prima Prize.
