Chris Bakriges Trio with Special Guests at Middlebury College's 51 Main At The Bridge

Pianist and composer Chris Bakriges (www.bakriges.com/) and his eclectic trio with bassist Rich Mollin and drummer Gabe Jarrett plays two sets at Middlebury College's intimate 51 Main at the Bridge beginning at 8pm on Saturday, November 23. Joining the trio is Oregon guitarist John Stowell and Vermont's own "Ace" Leonard.
Bakriges was born in Detroit and grew up near the original Motown Studios. The pianist now resides in southern Vermont, has performed with the likes of Bobby McFerrin and Sandra Wright and is artist-in-residence at MassArt in Boston.
Drummer Gabe Jarrett, son of jazz giant Keith Jarrett, has played with a wide variety of musicians including Thomas Chapin, Trey Anastasio, Grace Potter, and Ernie Watts. A temporary move to Vermont to join Burlington's Jazz Mandolin Project became permanent several years ago....

Bassist Rich Mollin has worked with hundreds of headline acts and performed for dignitaries, heads of state, and jazz fans throughout the east coast. He teaches at the State University of New York in Oneonta and plays with the Glimmerglass Opera Company and the Catskill Symphony.
Guest artist this evening is Oregon-based guitarist John Stowell who has had long-standing ties with flutist Paul Horn, bassist David Friesen, and records for the Seattle based Origin Records. Guitar great Larry Coryell call Stowell "a master creator."
Also guesting is Vermont tenor saxophonist James "Ace" Leonard. The master tenor man is a veteran of thirty years military band service who has played for presidents, kings, queens, and many other heads-of-state from around the world.
