“Tidings” brings comfort and musical joy home for you again this holiday season.
"No matter where Allison Crowe is in this world, that voice, that conviction, it crosses all borders. She's one of those rare artists that fits into any culture, any community because she is who she is - an incredible talent," observes Jeff Pitcher, Artistic Director of Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador.
And so it is that Crowe, who’s made her nest in Corner Brook for o’er a decade, finds her thrilling hybrid of Canadiana, Celtic, jazz, roots, folk, soul and rock loved deeply from the Hollywood Hills and Scottish Highlands to countries of Maritime and Mainland Southeast Asia and beyond. Since this Spring her unique repertoire, more than 159 original song recordings, plays in markets and street galleries throughout the republic of Portugal, land of Fado music. In 2016 she celebrated her fifth Summer at the helm of “Newfoundland Vinyl”, a rollicking hit at the Gros Morne Theatre Festival. This year she joined the “Vinyl” cast, too, on-stage in Cow Head, and performed in the ensemble of “Neddy Norris Night”, a GMTF traditional music favourite. Another fruitful collaboration with TNL looms this Wintertime as “Ed & Ed’s Olde Tyme Newfoundland Christmas Concert” delightfully heralds the 12th month at the ACC.
Capping a year of sensational tours from Europe to Canada’s Pacific coast, Allison Crowe delivers “Tidings” - a concert of “music for the season and all-time”. Crowe (voice, piano, guitar, fiddle & bodhran) is sure to be joined by surprise musical guests for a night of fun and celebration sharing timeless carols, vital originals and fresh takes on trad tunes spanning centuries as well as modern classics. “Be prepared to be amazed,” says ChristmasReviews.com.
