All About Jazz calls the pianist’s acoustic creations „a dedication to the beauty of music.“ Christian Pabst, André Nendza and Erik Kooger offer impressive mastery of their instruments, melodic sensitivity and rhythmic fireworks.
Christian Pabst can be found on the big stages (Lincoln Center New York, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, North Sea Jazz Festival, Bimhuis, etc.) and tours regularly around the world – in Europe as well as in the USA, South Africa, India, New Zealand, Australia, Turkey etc.
He studied piano at the conservatories of Amsterdam, Paris and Copenhagen as part of the European Jazz Masters. This was followed by studies in film music in Amsterdam.
He was pianist of the Bundesjazzorchester and has celebrated numerous successes with his award-winning piano trio.
In 2011, he released his debut „Days of Infinity (feat. Gerard Presencer),“ followed by „Song of Opposites“ with large instrumentation of strings and winds, and the trio album „Inner Voice,“ which was praised by the international press. Downbeat writer Scott Yanow described Christian Pabst’s piano playing as „connected to the greats of jazz, at once original and personal.“ In addition to his solo work, Pabst is a sought-after accompanist and has also made a name for himself through his collaborations with artists such as Lionel Loueke, James Cammack, Lubos Soukup, etc.
As an arranger he has worked for the ARD and the WDR Funkhausorchester, among others.
Since 2010 Christian Pabst has been a lecturer at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and since 2019 at the Hochschule für Musik Saar.
