Dicke Luft, Cologne’s only true wind orchestra, starts its concert year in the LOFT in spring and is very much looking forward to it.
It was the same last year. But unlike a year ago, the orchestra now knows that the small LOFT offers enough space: for two dozen orchestra members, the wonderful Steinway and the audience.
Deeply relaxed and full of confidence that things will work out logistically, Dicke Luft is venturing into new territory. A few months ago, the orchestra began working on a new CD and an LP in the LOFT. The first results will enrich the program....

Film music, Miles and Trane, rock, Bonnen, Hanschel, Zappa, classical and world music await the audience. Boundaries of aesthetics or genres have been ignored for over 40 years – that’s how long Dicke Luft has been around. Recitations and vocals are always a surprise. And just because there is a maxi-macro ensemble doesn’t mean that everyone has to play all the time. Sometimes a quartet is enough.
