Erik Leuthäuser is one of Germany’s outstanding young vocal talents. He comes from a jazz background, but has since created his own world between progressive jazz attitude and alternative pop song. In the quartet line-up, he brings his concept work Sucht to the stage, which was released by Fun in the Church/Staatsakt in April 2024.

The current songs revolve around “the topic of addiction from a queer perspective”. Erik Leuthäuser had already demonstrated that he can be unreservedly personal on his multi-colored, dazzling crossover album Wünschen. He covered everything from a Friedrich Hollaender chanson to a self-translated Duke Ellington classic to a Dota song or his own songs such as “Kannst du mein Kangaroo sein”. He performs the new “Sucht” cycle live with a piano trio. The brilliant jazz pianist Julius Windisch, jazz bassist Sofia Eftychidou and drummer Andi Haberl, member of The Notwist and the Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra....

Erik Leuthäuser (*1996) is a young singer and composer who works in the border area of jazz and experimental pop, increasingly using the German language. Honest and free of clichés, inspired by his experiences as a young man in the big city of Berlin. The Mannheimer Morgen describes him as a “brilliant young singer who is regarded as the upcoming voice in German jazz”. His debut album was nominated for the German Record Critics‘ Award in 2015. He has sung backing vocals for Quincy Jones, George Benson, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Jacob Collier and recorded albums with jazz legends such as Ken Peplowski, Alan Broadbent and Kurt Rosenwinkel.
