The Archimboldi Ensemble was commissioned by the Dutch Basklarinet Festijn 2025 (bassclarinet.nl). Their near-telepathic communication weaves sonic fabrics that fluctuate freely between improvised and composed elements.

Lida Brouskari is a Greek artist based in Utrecht (NL) on the brink of an international career. She is an active part of the Amsterdam improvisation scene, leading her own band Nufaro, and collaborating with musicians such as Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti, Frank Rosaly, Ab Baars and Raoul van der Weide. She has also collaborated with renowned artist Marguerite Humeau.
Rie Watanabe, a Japanese percussionist based in Cologne (DE), is widely known in the European new music scene, performing with ensembles like Musikfabrik, Ensemble Resonanz, M.A.M Manufaktur für die aktuelle Musik and others. She also leads her own ensemble DEHIO. She is a brilliant improvisor, having worked with Matthias Muche’s Bonecrusher, and with Oguz Büyükkberber, Ches Smith and Tobias Klein.
Drummer and percussionist Thomas Jaspers from the Netherlands is an extremely versatile musician and very active in the Dutch improvised music scene, collaborating with Vlek (o.a. Jacq Palinckx), Frans Vermeerssen and Marcus Wärnheim. He is also a dedicated climate activist, campaigning against Deep Sea Mining with the grindcore band The Polymetallic Nodules.
Bass clarinettist, saxophonist and composer Tobias Klein (NL/DE), based in Amsterdam, has been artistic director of the international ensemble Spinifex (John Dikeman, Bart Maris, Jaspers Stadhouders, Gonçalo Aleinda, Philipp Moser) for 20 years. He has worked with Chris Speed, B.C. Manjunath, Claron McFadden, Jozef Dumoulin, Ches Smith and Oguz Büyükberber, among others, and has toured all over Europe and Asia.
In the Archimboldi Ensemble, his bass clarinet joins a kaleidoscopic sound world with Watanabe’s shimmering vibraphone, Jaspers‘ earthy percussion and Brouskari’s uncompromising keyboard work.
