New Dimensions is the trumpeter’s first major musical project.
Here Schmidt, together with his co-bandleader Justus Czaske, allows all his musical influences to flow in and merge into a great whole. This results in unique, sometimes very daring musical ideas in the program consisting exclusively of original compositions, which are inspired by jazz musicians such as Kenny Wheeler and Caroline Davis, but also contain influences of classical and new music by composers such as Morton Feldman or Arnold Schönberg.
