Benedikt Hesse Trio – that’s Benedikt Hesse on drums, Jura Wajda on keyboards and bass synthesizer and Volker Deglmann on trumpet, that’s: wicked jazz sounds, Caribbean rhythms, funk, Latin, adept improvisations and three congenial instrumentalists who preserve the Southern spirit in sounds over and over again.

Benedikt was inspired to form this unlikely trio in the most likely place for it: the infamous Maple Leaf Bar, in New Orleans, the cradle of jazz. That was in 2010. Three studio albums followed, the current recording produced by none other than „Johnny V“ Vidacovich, a true drum legend from the Mississippi.

Claudia Ramos Barreto, born in 1999, grew up in a family of musicians in Havana / Cuba. During her classical music studies as a violinist she discovered jazz singing. Numerous performances followed, including a permanent engagement at the renowned Jazz Café. Claudia is a singer in the Polyphonic Choir of Havana and since 2020 part of the young female vocal quartet Quadrigale.
