In the CGNYC – Cologne meets New York series, Cologne bassist Florian Herzog invites New York musicians to perform in a first encounter.

Sasha Berliner is a vibraphonist, composer and bandleader from San Francisco, now based in New York City.
Originally a rock drummer, she developed her own sound language on the vibraphone under the influence of Stefon Harris, combining jazz with electronic effects, political statements and orchestral elements.
Her debut album Azalea was hailed as “shimmering and thoughtful” (TIDAL), Onyx with Marcus Gilmore, James Francies and Jaleel Shaw reached #1 in Jazzwise’s “Charting the Jazz Message” and was internationally recognized as one of the best jazz albums of the year.
Sasha was the first woman to be awarded the Downbeat Critics‘ Poll “Rising Star – Vibraphone” (2020) and has regularly been in the top ten of the Downbeat Readers‘ Polls since 2021. She has performed at the Newport, Monterey and Montreal Jazz Festivals and has played with Tyshawn Sorey, Christian McBride, Cecile McLorin Salvant and Nicholas Payton. I
Her third studio album Fantôme will be released in 2025.
