With the spoken word/experimental duo BUREAU BUREAU (Loenne/Cina) and the chamber music/acoustic trio Assonance (Butscher/Kalk/Baillod) two complete bands meet, which – not only in their line-up – could not be much more different. All five musicians are somehow hanging out in the Bernese scene for contemporary music, but find themselves here for the first time together on one stage. Sonia Loenne wrote reworks of BUREAU BUREAU and Assonance pieces especially for this concert – mixed, glued, rethought or amplified: Now Assonance‘ melancholic, dark waves meet the hyperactive sound clusters of BUREAU BUREAU, lyrics form harmonic structures – and vice versa....

Sonia Loenne sings, composes, recently also plays drums and now lives in Bern, where she studies contemporary composition in the master’s program at the Jazzfakultät der Hochschule der Künste with Andreas Schaerer, Stefan Schultze and Django Bates, among others.

She was born in Nice, France in 1996 and moved to Leipzig, Germany in 1997. This has left her with a lasting linguistic confusion. Therefore, for several years she has been involved in poetry, improvisation and theater in addition to music. Sonia improvises and composes in various formations, such as in duo with Bernese drummer Michael Cina: BUREAU BUREAU, as drummer of the band EDNA, with the Creative Jazz project Rainald Brederling Quintett, or solo throughout Germany and Switzerland and can be found more and more on established stages.
In 2022 she will release two first albums.
In addition, Sonia is active as a composer in contemporary classical and experimental music and is currently working on a commission for the Bernese ensemble Proton (Protonwerk 2022), among other projects.
In the past Sonia worked a lot in theater – this increasingly influences her artistic work. Interdisciplinarity is not a conscious focus of her work, it just happens.
