Guitarist Frederik Taubenheim and artist Maike Graf create the space between music and visual art. With their live-painting concerts, the duo sees itself in the tradition of gestural painting and sculpture of the early 1950s, as well as the action painting of Abstract Expressionism, Tachism and Fluxus. The concept improvisation Scenes of a Dystopia by Frederik Taubenheim, Kim Camilla Jäger, Inga Rothammel and Marius Lamm is assigned to this in-between space. The musicians came together in 2018 at the ArtEZ hoogeschool voor de kunsten (Arnhem, NL) to work collectively and improvise freely. In „Scenes of a Dystopia“ they set their personal dystopia to music with noisy, electronic and electroacoustic sounds. The aesthetics of the in-between emerge in the field of SoundArt, Sound Performance and Experimental Music.
