„The album Orange Sky is a suite whose pieces are closely interrelated. The dynamics and atmosphere of the different songs are attuned to each other, creating a balanced whole from the first to the last note. A unifying component that runs through all the pieces is the sound. This is remarkable because drummers are usually responsible for the timing and not the timbre.
Johannes Metzger is a fine observer who knows how to translate the supposedly casual into musical stringency. Some of it sounds almost like a musical travel guide through Berlin’s back streets. „These observations tend to play a subordinate role in composing,“ Metzger admits, „but of course it’s precisely these moods that carry me into the music when I’m writing.
Orange Sky is an album that is as thoughtful as it is lasting, made up of many aspects of personal and collective perception of the world as well as situational and global life experience.
