Laia Genc and Roger Hanschel belong to the elite of the North Rhine-Westphalian jazz scene. Hanschel is a member of the Cologne saxophone mafia. He has already been involved in five German record awards and is a SWR jazz award winner. In addition to various own projects such as Roger Hanschels Heavy Rotation, his collaboration with the Auryn Quartet or the Trio Benares and many more, he was also a guest soloist e.g. with the NDR-Big Band, the Norwegian Wind Ensemble and the Gotland Musicians. Roger Hanschel won the WDR Jazz Award in 2018.

Genc has also been decorated several times with international jazz prizes, as well as the Cologne jazz prize “Horst and Gretl Will Stipendium” and plays in numerous ensembles. As a band leader, she pursues various projects. At the heart of her work is the “Laia Genc LiaisonTonique” piano trio, with which she has successfully performed for more than 10 years and has even performed worldwide. A grant from the NRW Art Foundation brought her to Istanbul for a few months in 2014. From this stay, the project „Istanbul Composers Orchestra“ developed, which has already carried out several different project phases and has played at renowned music festivals.
