Saxophonist Wayne Shorter has created compositions of timeless power and beauty. Especially his music from the 1960s impresses with the variety of timbres, rhythmic motifs and melodic formations. Each piece is a world unto itself and follows its own musical laws. It is therefore an equally challenging and exciting undertaking to play these compositions and improvise on their basis.

Matthias Petzold has now assembled a quintet line-up to create an entire program of Wayne Shorter's pieces. In his own arrangements and a different instrumentation from the original versions, Shorter's music comes alive again and presents itself in its colorfulness and positive radiance.
